Newswire for 1.30.13

FGA held its double shot weekend in both Plymouth, Massachusetts and Providence, Rhode Island. Click below to find out all that went down.

This past Saturday, Frontier Grappling Arts held its first of two shows during the January 26-27 double shot. The event was kicked off by FGA Champion A.J. Fairchild, who showed no remorse over his recent actions against Ryan Kidd and Vikki Synn. This prompted Kidd to come out and challenge him for one more match. A Ladder Match for the FGA Championship. Fairchild, to no one's surprised, turned down the offer because he had already beaten Kidd twice and had nothing left to prove. But Kidd wasn't going to leave empty handed. He charged the ring and attacked the champ. But Fairchild was able to slither his away out of the ring and take off.

Fairchild later went on to face Preston Blake in the main event. Despite it being a non-title match, Preston still went into the bout with something to prove. He had already gotten a victory over Fairchild this past December. Some had written it off as a fluke or an "off day" for Fairchild. But there was no fluke here as he not only defeated the champion, but made him submit. With wins over both Kidd and Fairchild, you'd have to imagine that Preston has positioned himself for a title shot down the road.

In the Semifinals of the Pride Championship Tournament, Malcolm Drake was able to defeat both Tony Edison and Bob Pooler, advancing to the finals. After being attacked early on, Drake stayed on the outside as he watched Pooler and Edison wear each other down. Once he found his opening, Drake capitalized as he picked off both men en rout to a victory. But the victory wasn't the only accomplishment of the night for Drake. The self-proclaimed "Godkiller", along with his partner in crime Dom Harter, delivered a brutal attack on Akrista O'Hare that effectively knocked her out of FGA. She is now the latest name to be added to The Murder's hit list, joining the likes of Jacob Demore and Alistair Mangold. Akrista's friend, Pat Gordon, Jr was beyond livid after seeing what happened. He's vowed to take them out one by one. But with The Murder's hit list growing by the week, and with Gordon's allies becoming more scarce, he may have to do this on his own.

Jonathan Collins, the Director of FGA's newest affiliate Exodus Pro Wrestling, made his dvd taping debut. But whatever goodwill he had may have been lost after he made several questionable comments regarding the abilities of the FGA roster. This didn't sit well with Tigre Oro, who came out to confront him. Collins tried to diffuse the situation and leave. But Oro refused to let him leave. This struggle lead to Collins accidentally hitting Oro in the face with a backfist. Collins has since apologized over and over for the mishap. No word on if Oro is buying his excuse.

On Sunday's dvd taping in Providence, Rhode Island, Fairchild once again opened up the show. He let everyone know that not only was he fined for his repeated attacks on Vikki Synn, but he was now being forced to defend his FGA Championship against Kidd at Pride, Honor & Excellence in a Ladder Match. However, Fairchild reminded Kidd that this was his last shot and that after he beat him, he never wanted to see him in an FGA ring again. But Kidd had an announcement of his own. He announced that Kidd and Fairchild would be participating in two "Pick Your Poison" matches on February 8 in Jersey City. Kidd picked Kevin Hardaway as Fairchild's opponent. But Fairchild scoffed as he flat out refused to wrestler Hardaway. Instead, he substituted his "good friend" Danielle Tyler in his place. But upon hearing this, Dani was none too pleased with being forced to fight AJ's battle. "Are you all f*cking serious," she asked. "People think I side with Fairchild so they place me in HIS pick your poison match? Fine with me, When K Hard feels my foot in his rib cage like Blayze did, he will realize like Blayze, I am not a b*tch to be dealt with lightly." She later exclaimed "I HATE Fairchild." Fairchild went on to name The Murder's Malcolm Drake as Kidd's opponent.

In the second semifinals match of the weekend, Kevin Hardaway was able to outlast both Jake Winchester and Leon Corella. Corella, despite being the hometown hero, was the first to fall at the hands of Winchester. But unfortunately for "Old School", he was now able to overcome the offense of Hardaway. With both Drake and Hardaway on a collision course over the Pride Championship, expect fireworks.

Nearly three weeks ago in Woodbridge, Anton Chase laid out Hardaway after his first round match in the Pride Championship Tournament. Many wondered why Chase, who had never crossed paths with Hardaway before, would attack him. But Chase soon let everyone know that he was paid off to do so. After taunting Hardaway with what could be taken as either clues or red herrings, Chase promised that whenever they do meet in the ring, he'll finish what he started in Woodbridge.

Chandler Scott made his return since his loss to Ben Hanson at Final Frontier. Chandler, never being one to let go of grudges, laid into Hanson which drew the ire of the crowd. But the crowd surprisingly began to slowly get behind Chandler as he ran down Fairchild and took him to task for his recent actions. But his rant would soon be cut off by Chris Q, who made it clear that Chandler had his chance to get his rematch. Instead, he chose to pursue his personal vendetta with Hanson, a move that ending up blowing up in Chandler's face. Q then reiterated that not only was he the new Big Bad in FGA, but he and he only would be the next in line for a title shot. This clearly didn't sit well with Chandler, who feels that he should still be the champion. Could this have been a preview of what's to come?

Chris Q wasn't done for the evening, though. He faced off against Pat Gordon, Jr in the main event. Gordon was already angry after his good friend Akrista O'Hare was ushered out of FGA by The Murder. But his anger may have gotten the best of him as Chris Q dropped him for another victory, keeping his perfect record intact.

Over the weekend, several grapplers (both new to the business and seasoned vets) made their FGA debuts.

On Saturday, Danielle Tyler was defeated by Johnny Blayze. Blayze got the victory. But not only did he leave with some hurt ribs, but he also left with a new enemy in Tyler.

Camellia D. Magna lost her first round match to Dom Harter. At times it looked as if Dom was going to taste defeat yet again. But after wisely attacking the legs, it slowed down Camellia and allowed the Tenacious Little Bastard to get his first FGA win.

Aaron Blaize got his first win over Akrista O'Hare. O'Hare came out with fire in her eyes after her recent struggles in the ring. But a well-timed counter from "The Viper" put the "Gray Angel" away in what soon turned out to be her final FGA match.

On Sunday, the adrenaline junky Hank Hazard flew from every corner imaginable. But it wasn't enough to overcome the efforts of Braydon "The Bully" Jones.

Chris Bond and Anton Chase went back and forth in a tremendous matchup. Both vets tried to execute their gameplan to the fullest. But it was Bond who was just a little bit better, delivering his End of Days to Chase for the win.
Tigre Oro's bad weekend continued as he tasted defeat for the first time in an FGA ring. "The All Star" Johnny Rampage put his feet on the ropes to help get himself a win.
