Double Shot Weekend

Frontier Grappling Arts is fresh off of a huge weekend of action. The promotion held its latest double shot in Erie, PA and Ocean City, MD.

During Night 1, The Murder kicked things off by gloating over Bob Pooler's betrayal of Pat Gordon, Jr at “Only the String Survive.” The trio of crows promised that by the end of the weekend, they would have all the power in FGA. They would go on to invite Gordon, Jr to their celebration of Pooler's impending victory over Chandler Scott for the Pride Championship. Unfortunately for Pooler, he fell victim to Chandler two falls to one. At the end of the event, Gordon, Jr came back out to call out all three members. Despite putting up a fight, Gordon, Jr succumbed to the numbers game. With all of his friends and allies either injured or gone, it looked as though this would be the night that The Murder would put the Southie Scrapper out of his misery. But The Murder's plan was foiled as Ryan Kidd came through the crowd and helped Gordon, Jr fight them off.

We've come to learn that Kidd had recently had a meeting with FGA officials about returning to the company. It was back in February at “Pride, Honor and Excellence” that Kidd put his FGA career on the line against A.J. Fairchild and Preston Blake in a Triple Threat Ladder Match for the FGA Championship. In the closing moments of that match, Kidd was within inches of snatching the belt. But Dom Harter and Malcolm Drake hit the ring, attacking Kidd and causing him to lose the match. After pleading his case, FGA Officials agreed with Kidd that if it weren't for The Murder's interference, he would have never been forced to leave FGA. Kidd will have his first match in an FGA ring in over three months against Bob Pooler.

At the start of the show, Johnny Blayze interrupted the opening contest between Santa Claus and Tigre Oro. After complaining about his elimination during the Gold Rush Rumble, Alexia Brandt made her presence known to confront Blayze. The “Third Wave Threat” didn't mice words as she not only called him a coward for deserting Gordon, but told him that her eliminating him was no fluke. She offered to Blayze the chance to redeem himself with a one on one match. Blayze responded by throwing a fireball at her, causing Brandt to suffer second degree burns to the side of her face. Later on in the night, Blayze would finally get his chance to challenge the man he felt always left him high and dry in Pat Gordon, Jr. Blayze was able to defeat his former friend after delivering the Blayze of Glory.

Jason Richards and Camellia D. Magna excited the crowd with their back and forth bout. But the match was ruined by Anton Chase, who attacked Richards for the fourth show in the row. But Richards was able to battle back as the two brawled to the back. As Magna tried to recover from the match, Michael Tomkins and his associates, Dan Thorton and KoolStorm, hit the ring. Magna was able to fight off KoolStorm. But she fell victim to the much larger Thorton. Tomkins then took the mic, promising to not only make an example out of her, but to also send a message to all of FGA by starting from the bottom.

J.T. Cash came close to winning the Gold Rush Rumble. But instead, he had to settle for second place as he was eliminated by Dom Harter. Cash looked to bounce back from a disappointing finish by facing Harter's cohort Malcolm Drake. Unfortunately for Cash, Drake was able to keep his current streak rolling as he able to defeat The Enigma. Earlier in the evening, Cash interrupted Chandler Scott's celebration over his Pride Championship win. He then challenged Chandler to a match for his Pride Championship. A challenge that has yet to be accepted.

On night two, Chris Bond opening up the show by admitting that Chris Q was the better man at Only the Strong Survive. He made no excuses for his loss. But he also said the loss wasn't a devastating one. If anything, it only made him want the belt that much more. So he challenged Chris Q to a rematch at All-Star Showdown II. A match that was quickly brushed off by Chris Q. The self-proclaimed Big Bad of FGA had no problems with telling Bond how little he thought of him and his challenge, suggesting that he should get to the back of the line and earn his rematch.

Despite suffering second degree burns the night before, Alexia Brandt went against doctor's orders and went one on one with Michael Kennedy. Kennedy repeatedly targeted the bandaged side of her face. But Brandt was able to overcome his attacks and get the victory.

Anton Chase went up against newcomer Wayne Carruthers. All week, Chase underestimated “Wild Thing.” But Chase's cockiness cost him as Carruthers was able to counter the Starmaker into the Crash Magnitude for the win. Before the match, Justice Young confronted Chase about his repeated attacks on Jason Richards. Chase made it clear that not only was Richards' win over him a fluke, but that Richards wouldn't make a name for himself at his expense. He then challenged Richards to a rematch. A challenge that Richards would accept later on in the evening.

After an impressive performance in the Gold Rush Rumble, which saw him eliminate the most grapplers and last the longest, Johnny Karma faced his biggest test in former number one contender Chris Bond. After a hard fought match, Karma was able to shock FGA Nation by getting the upset win over Bond. But if you were to ask Karma, this win was anything but a “shock” or an “upset.”

In the main event, Chris Q defended his FGA Championship against Dom Harter. Harter earned the match by winning the Gold Rush Rumble at Only the Strong Survive. The match was far from a technical masterpiece as the bout was hard hitting. Towards the end of the match, the ref was inadvertently knocked out, creating an opening for both men to bend the rules. Harter went to nail Chris Q with a steel chair. But the champ countered with a low blow. As he tried to return the favor with a chairshot of his own, Chris Bond came out to the ring, snatched the chair from Q and rolled to the outside. The champ argued with Bond as Malcolm Drake made his way through the crowd. While Q was able to to counter Bob Pooler's interference, he was not able to stop Drake as the Head Crow nailed him in the head with the FGA Championship belt. As Harter crawled over and covered the champion, Bond tried to wave off the ref and point out Drake's interference. But the ref, still in a dazed state, had his sights set on only the pinfall. Roughly three seconds later, Harter was crowned the new FGA Champion, ending the streak of Chris Q and putting the biggest prize in all of FGA in the hands of The Murder.
