Midway through the event, fans of both FGA and FRONTIER were treated to the return of former FGA Champion, "The Metal Heart" Ben Hanson. This was the first time that the FGA fans had seen Hanson since "Final Frontier" in December 2012. While Hanson would not be returning to FGA for good, he was returning to cash in on a title shot against his hated rival. Last October during FRONTIER's GFC Invitational II, Hanson defeated the likes of Kevin Hardaway (the GFC Invitational I winner), Andreas Lasiewicz and CJ Osborne (the current owner of FRONTIER). After winning the tournament, Hanson was granted a GFC World Heavyweight Championship shot. A shot that he hasn't cashed in... until now.
"I thought there was an issue that was long since settled, but due to one man’s actions it’s raised its ugly head again. You see, I spent the latter half of last year being told I was a deserter, that I was a traitor. That I abandoned FGA…
…Yeah, I’m talking about you, Chandler. Because I sat back and I’ve listened to you bitch and moan about how the fans here never respected you. Whining constantly about how they’d prefer to cheer for someone like myself or Kevin Hardaway, maybe even Ryan Kidd or AJ Fairchild. And, boy, did I ever get sick of hearing that.
I know you’re back there, so listen up. Last year, after I had deserted FGA, I travelled across the ocean to Pro Wrestling FRONTIER for a one night tournament. The second annual GFC Invitational Tournament, where I defeated Andreas Lasciewicz, Kevin Hardaway and CJ Osborne, and I got rewarded with … what was it again?
A shot at the GFC World Heavyweight Championship.
And I figured what better time to cash in my prize? What better time than when you have deserted FGA, when you have fled across the ocean to join the very promotion you once fought valiantly to ward off. And I figured that I’d once again fight for the pride of FGA, the very promotion I helped to build with my blood, sweat and tears. So here’s the deal, Chandler. When the FGA kicks off their midwest tour, we start a town close to my heart … Columbus, Ohio. And on that night, Chandler, September 14th, I will have my shot at the GFC World Heavyweight Championship!"
There hasn't been an official comment on this from Chandler Scott. But given their storied rivalry, conventional wisdom says that he's not pleased over this news.
