On this past weekend's DVD Taping, a new champion was crowned inside on the FGA ring
At the Columbus DVD Taping on 9/14, the fans were treated to a title change. While they did not see a new GFC World Heavyweight Champion crowned, they did see a new Pride Champion crowned as Chaths, one half of Bloodbath & Beyond, defeated Chris Bond.
In was nearly four weeks ago that Bond defeated three other men (including FRONTIER's Andreas Lasiewicz and "Welsh Dragon" Michael Hopkins) to win the vacated championship. But in his first defense, he fell victim to Johnny Blayze's partner in crime.
Earlier in the show, Bond came out to thank the fans for never losing faith in him. But his celebratory speech was cut short by Johnny Karma. Karma took great issue with Bond, dressing him down in the ring. Karma launched into his rant, calling Bond not only a a fraud, but undeserving of his Pride Title shot. He insisted that it should have been him who got the Pride Title shot. Karma also rubbed in the fact that back in May, it was him that pinned Bond cleanly in the center of the ring. The rant left Bond uncharacteristically speechless.
Bond looked to shake off the confrontation with Karma as he headed into his match with Chaths. But despite putting up a fight, Chaths was able to pull off one of the upsets of the year, winning the match 2-1.
The "Battled Hardened" veteran has invoked his rematch clause. Bond will receive his Pride Championship Match against Chaths on the 10/12 DVD Taping. Should Bond win, he will then go on to defend the title against Karma, who he will be fighting at "Respect is Earned" on 10/26. Should Bond lose the rematch, then the title shot will go to Karma at a later date.
In the meantime, Chaths, along with Johnny Blayze, look to continue to hold the Pride Championship over the head of FGA.
