Another former champion is scheduled to return in 2017.
A week after the return of Ricky Valero was announced, we can now report that another former champion is on his way back to active competition.
Chris Bond will be making his return to FGA after being sidelined with an injury for the past three months.
Bond made his FGA debut in early 2013. After engaging in a heated rivalry with Chris Q, Bond shifted his focus to the Pride division. It was there that he came the first two-time Pride Champion, a record that still holds up three years later (both Sunshine Scandalous Tony Carmine and Johnny Karma have since tied him).
In February 2015, Bond was named the Head Trainer of Lion's Den Fighting Championships, a position he held until the company was bought out in August of 2016.
In December of 2015, Bond first crossed paths with Johnny Cannon. At the time, Cannon had sidelined Evangelista with a severe neck injury. After an upset loss to Bond, The British Mamba took out his frustrations on Bond's surgically repaired knee. Bond would make his return during the summer of 2016 with intentions of payback. Unfortunately for Bond, he would succumb to another Cannon assault. At First Wave, Bond lost via referee stoppage. But that didn't stop Cannon, who continued to assault Bond after the match.
Bond suffered a Grade II concussion in the attack. In addition, he received 10 staples to close the wound. After a couple of months on the sidelines, the man that describes himself as #FGAProud is ready to return. Bond will be making his onscreen return during the first Vertigo of the new year.
