Tuesday Roundup
News and Notes for June 13, 2017.
All 18 additional spots have been confirmed for the 2017 Dynamic Duos tournament. Some of these pairings are well known. Others are first-time duos that will be trying their hand at the prestigious tournament. Fans can expect names to start being rolled out later in the week. The 24 team tournament will start on July 8 and will last through September 8, where the semifinals and finals will be taking place at "Patriot Games." All tournament matches (with the exception of the semis and finals) will take place strictly on Flashpoint. The dates for the tournament are as follows: 7/8, 7/22, 8/5, 8/19 and 9/2. The winners of the tournament will be presented with the DDT3 trophy, as well as a guaranteed Tag Team Title shot.
After hearing speculation from certain wrestlers, 2017 Hall of Fame Inductee Cordy Stevenson cleared the air in regards to her current injury. Despite two career-threatening ankle injuries in the past, Stevenson let everyone know that her ankle is in fine. It's been complications from a concussion, as well as other undisclosed issues, that have kept the Golden Crown Winner out of action for the last month. There currently isn't a timetable for her return.
On Monday afternoon, longtime committee member Stuart Pendace finished up his duties with Frontier Grappling Arts. Pendace had been apart of FGA's executive committee since its exception, working alongside Leonard T. Asherman and others. Pendace had served FGA greatly over the last five and a half years. But after 30 years in the business, Pendace is ready to call it quits. Pendace got his big break in the 80s as renown manager "Simply" Stu Pendace before transitioning into office roles for various companies in the late 00s.
Digital Media Director Paco Romero has also finished up his duties with FGA. Over the past two years, Romero oversaw the company's digital media efforts, as well as helped create and curate talent. We wish Romero the best of luck in his future endeavors.
The company is currently accepting applications for both positions.
FGA's fan convention, Frontier Con, will be held between June 20 and June 23 at the Las Angeles Convention center. The full lineup for the event will be released on Wednesday. Expecting to see new and returning events, as well as a few surprise guests.
