This past Saturday in Hartford, CT, FGA's latest DVD Taping was main evented by J.T. Cash defending his Pride Championship against Wayne Carruthers. But a match that was supposed to be centered around sportsmanship and pure wrestling ended with the complete opposite.
After defeating Chandler Scott at All-Star Showdown II, J.T. Cash would have no time to rest. He was scheduled to defend his recently won Pride Championship against Wayne Carruthers. Both Carruthers and Johnny Karma had impressed FGA Officials over the past several months. With key wins by both men as well as impressive performances in the Gold Rush Rumble, both men were rewarded with an opportunity. And at Showdown II, Carruthers was given that opportunity when he defeated Karma.
Carruthers would take the first fall in the Pride Championship Match. He targeted the head and neck, softening up Cash for the Crash Magnitude. The champion had his back against the wall. He had to win the next two falls or else he'd lose his championship just as quickly as he won it. Cash by no means threw in the towel. He tried to slow down the bigger, stronger, and surprisingly just as quick Carruthers. After working over the knee, Cash wore down Carruthers enough to hit The Generation Gap to capture the second fall.
With the scored tied 1-1, it was anyone's match. But FGA Nation, as well as Cash and Carruthers themselves, were robbed of a proper conclusion. Cash had Carruthers in perfect position to hit a high risk maneuver. But "The Rogue" Michael Tomkins crashed the party, sending Cash crashing to the floor and causing the ref to DQ Carruthers for the third and final fall.
During a victory celebration earlier in the night, Cash was interrupted by Tomkins, who made no secret about his intentions. Not only did he want Cash's title, but he wanted to become the first man in FGA history to be a Triple Crown Winner. Cash was game for a match. But little did he know that Tomkins would strike first. After putting the boots to Cash on the floor, Tomkins was fought off by Carruthers, who sent him over the barricade and into the crowd with a clothesline.
Will FGA Nation see Cash-Carruthers II at some point? What else does Tomkins have up his sleeve? And with Carruthers and Heather Halliwell meeting Tomkins and Adam Stryker on the July 20 DVD Taping, will Carruthers be able to control his anger? Or will Tomkins be able to use Carruthers' anger against him, causing Bad Attitude to advance in the Dynamic Duos Tournament?
